BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (Sept. 4, 2015) – Investigators in Bartholomew County are on the lookout for an SUV after a husband and wife reported being shot at Thursday night on I-65.

The two were traveling in separate vehicles on southbound I-65 just south of the exit for the Edinburgh Premium Outlets between 10:15 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. when it happened. The wife said she saw a dark-colored SUV come up quickly behind her, flashing its high beams and tailgating her. She couldn’t change lanes immediately, but the SUV eventually passed her.

When it did, she saw an arm extended from the driver’s side of the SUV and then heard a pop or bang. Her husband, who was ahead of her in a pickup truck, said the same SUV pulled up next to him. Both reported hearing a second loud pop.

When they arrived home, they found a bullet hole in the side of the pickup truck. The SUV had aftermarket rims, low profile tires and tinted windows, the couple said. They couldn’t say for sure how many people were in the SUV.

Bartholomew County sheriff’s detectives are trying to identify the vehicle and are asking anyone who may have seen a dark SUV driving erratically Thursday night on I-65 in Bartholomew or Jackson counties.

Anyone with information should call Sergeant Chad Swank, Investigations Division, Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office at 812-565-5925.
