Two-county chase leads to construction zone crash, 3 people hospitalized

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (Sept. 2, 2015) – A driver trying to get away from police crashed in a construction zone over the Wildcat Creek late Tuesday night.

According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, it started in Frankfort when police tried to make a traffic stop. The driver took off instead.

Frankfort police went after the car but stopped at the I-65 ramp at State Road 38 in Tippecanoe, which is closed. The driver ignored the warning signs and continued onto I-65 northbound.

Tippecanoe County sheriff’s deputies spotted the car at the State Road 26 exit. A deputy turned on his lights to warn construction crews of the oncoming vehicle.

The car slammed into a concrete barrier while going through the construction zone. Three people in the car suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash.
