Indianapolis, Ind. (August 31, 2015) – Double 8 Foods closed the doors to all locations this summer after 58 years in business.

Sales and revenue kept dropping at the family-owned store chain, and family members said after contemplating it for one year, they had no choice but to shut down.

The leftover inventory is up for bid this week, and items range from equipment like display coolers and grocery carts, to non-perishables like diapers and freezer food.

Joe Martin with Key Auctioneers said the auction is not just for big companies.

“It’s for everybody!” said Martin. “It is for individuals. You can buy cereal, diapers, all that kind of stuff. And then for small stores, they can buy coolers, shelving, lots of different things. Everything in there is going pretty much.”

Martin also said this is a good opportunity for local food banks to get a great deal.

You can preview the auction items Monday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sherman, MLK, N. Illinois and Fairfield locations.

The non-perishable items are listed online here, here, here and here.
