Anderson Elementary School student fires BB gun during recess, 3 slightly injured
ANDERSON, Ind. (Aug. 31, 2015)– Officials say three students suffered superficial injuries Monday after an Anderson Elementary School student brought a loaded BB gun to school and fired it.
Anderson Community Schools says a fifth-grade student hid the weapon in the waistband of his pants. After showing the BB gun to other students, the weapon was fired during outdoor recess and hit three students. They each had superficial injuries.
The school corporation believes four students in the fifth grade are involved in some way. The incident is still under investigation.
“Acts such as this will not be tolerated, as the safety of our students and staff is of utmost importance. ACSC would also like to take this opportunity to reinforce the importance of guardians communicating to their students the inappropriateness of bringing weapons or look a-likes to school.” Anderson Community Schools said in a statement.
