Christian Park Elementary School evacuated after pipe bomb found in dumpster

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (August 25, 2015) – Indianapolis police are investigating a pipe bomb found at an elementary school on the city’s east side.

Police were called to Christian Park Elementary School in the 4700 block of English Avenue on a report of a suspicious device found in a dumpster.

Investigators later determined that the device is a pipe bomb. It was disposed of by IMPD. There were no reported injuries and it is not known if the pipe bomb was active.

The school was evacuated, and the children were taken to a nearby community center, where they finished the day. They will be going back to school Wednesday.
