BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (August 25, 2015) – A car slammed into a Columbus church Tuesday morning, and the driver doesn’t know how it happened.
Police responded to a possible explosion at the Reformed Presbyterian Church located at 550 N National Road.
When they arrived, they saw a large opening in the building and a car inside the church.
The vehicle’s roof was partially collapsed and the driver’s door was stuck.
Officers were able to speak with the driver, and he identified himself as Timothy Hughes, 20, of Greenwood.
Hughes said he couldn’t remember how the vehicle ended up in the church.
Columbus Township Fire Department cut away the vehicle in order to release Hughes. He was then life-lined to Methodist Hospital. His injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
