RICHMOND, Ind. (Aug 19, 2015) — A Richmond man was murdered during an overnight home invasion. The 18-year-old died after being shot in his home early Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as Caleb Stevens.

Police say two other people were in the house with Stevens during the attack.

Unfortunately, the witnesses were not able to give police a good description of the suspects.

“The totality of what we were given from witnesses was there were two dark figures. There was no race disclosed,” said Richmond police Det. Sgt. Michael Britt.

Richmond police said those two witnesses were later arrested and booked into the Wayne county jail, but they’re not accused of the murder.

Police said they found evidence of drug activity inside the house.

“I don’t know if we can call it a drug house, but as we began our search there was illegal substances discovered. The co-residents were arrested for maintaining a common nuisance,” said Britt.

Stevens played high school football at Centerville before transferring to Richmond.

Richmond police say the teen had not been in trouble with the law before and right now it’s not clear what the suspects wanted before the shooting began.

“I have not been told if there were any demands made. We are not certain what the motive of violence was about,” said Britt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Richmond police.
