Police on scene where two people were struck on Aug. 17, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 17, 2015) — Two people were hurt after being struck near a bus stop on the east side of Indianapolis Monday morning. Police arrested the driver on an OWI charge.

According to police dispatchers, it happened around 8:30 a.m. at East 10th Street and North Lasalle Street. One of the victims managed to call police about the crash before being taken to Eskenazi Hospital. Both victims were in serious condition. Bystanders and workers at nearby businesses came out to help the victims after they were hit.

Police said the car was westbound when it drove across all lanes of traffic and ended up on the sidewalk. The female driver was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated. Another woman was in the car with her, police said.

Police said damage on the vehicle involved–a white Chevrolet–indicated the car may have been involved in an earlier crash. Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
