WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Ind. (Aug. 17, 2015) - School officials aren't revealing much about a reported sexual assault on the campus of Ben Davis High School.

An IMPD report shows last week, a 16-year-old female victim reported she was raped by a 15-year-old male.

School officials did not release many details, instead just provided this statement:

“The MSD of Wayne Township was made aware of a reported sexual assault on the campus of Ben Davis High School after school hours on August 12. School officials immediately notified the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, which is investigating the case. The MSD of Wayne Township is cooperating fully with the investigation. The alleged assault appears to be an isolated incident.”

“I’m mortified and it’s very concerning,” said the mother of a Ben Davis student. She was upset school officials did not notify parents of the alleged assault.

“I haven’t heard anything. You would think the school would’ve notified parents of the action but I haven’t heard a word,” she said.

“I think it’s terrible. I never had any friends who had any issues like that with rape or any kind of sexual harassment there,” said 2012 Ben Davis graduate William Simpson.

After hearing the alleged assault happened after school hours, Simpson called into question the lack of after school security.

“There wasn’t as much security there after school no, I mean the hallways were pretty empty so I it’s possible for something like that to happen after school I suppose,” he said.

IMPD is still looking into the report.

There is a constant police presence at the school during the day, but there was no word from school officials Monday if they are considering a more permanent police presence for after school hours.
