Gov. Pence has surgery to address issues from previous hernia repair

Gov. Mike Pence

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 17, 2015)– Governor Mike Pence had non-emergency outpatient surgery Monday at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital to deal with minor complications from his hernia surgery last week.

He was discharged Monday evening and will recover at home. Pence temporarily transferred executive branch duties to Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann.

“The Governor’s surgery was successful and he has returned to the Governor’s residence to rest and recover,” said Press Secretary Kara Brooks. “The Governor and the First Lady are truly grateful for the kind concern and prayers of so many Hoosiers. The Governor looks forward to resuming a full schedule next week.”

The Governor has resumed his executive branch duties.
