GREENWOOD, Ind. (August 13, 2015) – An SUV crashed into a Greenwood house after a police chase in Johnson County early Thursday morning.

Officers clocked the vehicle speeding on State Road 37 and tried to initiate a traffic stop. The SUV slowed slightly, then fled. A police pursuit began near Stones Crossing Rd.

Police say the SUV turned into a neighborhood near Windmill Trail and Country Lane where it hit two mailboxes and a cable and phone box before crashing into a house.

According to police, speeds during the chase reached 100 miles per hour before the crash.

Officers initially had two suspects in custody: one was taken to the Johnson County jail, and the other was transported to the hospital. He will then be taken to a juvenile detention center after he is dischagred.

The driver of the SUV climbed out of the sunroof and fled the scene. K9 units located him just before 6 a.m. Thursday.

Police say drugs were found in the SUV and believe they were stolen.

No one in the house was injured.
