Person shot during carjacking on north side of Indianapolis; police searching for armed suspect

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 13, 2015)—One person was shot during a carjacking on the city’s north side Thursday morning.

Authorities responded to the Park Central North Apartment Homes near Hoover Road and 64th Street just before 7 a.m.  According to preliminary investigation, the victim was in his car, waiting to take his girlfriend to work and his girlfriend’s daughter to school when he was approached by an armed man. Police said the suspect demanded the victim to get out of the car.

Police said after refusing to exit the vehicle, the victim was shot in the leg.

The suspect was a black male between the ages of 20-21 years old. The armed suspect was described to have braids and was wearing a white tank top.

The vehicle stolen was a royal blue 2013 Hyundai Accent with a personalized license plate that reads “JALIYAH.”

The victim was transported to St. Vincent
