Indiana Gov. Mike Pence undergoes hernia surgery Friday, now resting at home

UPDATE (Aug. 14, 2015)– Gov. Mike Pence is out of surgery and resting at his house, says officials. During his time in surgery, Gov. Pence temporarily transferred his executive branch duties to Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Friday. After being released from St. Vincent Hospital, he signed a letter to resume his duties.

“The Governor and First Lady appreciate the thoughts and prayers offered by Hoosiers across the state and are grateful to the staff at St. Vincent Hospital,” said Matt Lloyd, Pence spokesman.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Aug. 13, 2015)– A spokesperson for Indiana Governor Mike Pence says he will undergo surgery Friday to repair a hernia.

The surgery will take place at St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, and he will recover at home following the surgery.

No further details were immediately released.
