Firefighters battle fire for several hours; Shelbyville couple’s home destroyed

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Aug. 13, 2015)— Firefighters spent several hours battling a fire that destroyed a Shelbyville couple’s home early Thursday morning.

The homeowner, David Wickizer, told firefighters he heard the fire, and within minutes, the fire was through the roof.

Crews responded to the home in the 1200 block of Oak Lane around 1:22 a.m. and spent three hours containing the blaze. The house sustained $125,000 in damage.

No one was injured in the fire.  The cause is still under investigation.
