Colts fans ready for first day of training camp
ANDERSON, Ind. (August 2, 2015) — It’s the day football fans have been waiting for — the first day of practice at Colts Training Camp.
Fans can watch open practices for free starting Sunday. Parking lots open at 10:30 a.m. and parking is $5 per car. However, some fans started waiting outside the practice field around 4:00 a.m., like 11-year-old Cody Burris and his family.
“I’m most excited for the new Colts and all the new faces,” Burris said.
Inside “Colts City” you can see inflatables, the Colts in Motion Traveling Museum, Play 60 Zone and the Colts Cheerleaders plan to make an appearance. The team partnered with Goodwill to offer a free, limited edition Colts seat cushion to every fan who makes a donation at training camp, while supplies last.
Sunday is also “Kids Day.” The first 500 kids to stop by Blue’s tent will get a free cookie and poster to help celebrate Blue’s 10th season with the team. Kids can join a scavenger hunt for a chance to win Colts tickets and other prizes as well.
While fans get excited for the 2015 season, the players are getting ready to put in work for two weeks at camp.
“You appreciate the guys who are on the team, and then you say, alright here we go — let’s go do the best we can with who we have, there’s a bunch of great players, a bunch of studs,” said Colts Quarterback Andrew Luck.
If you miss out on Sunday, there’s still a lot planned for the next two weeks at camp.
“Another big day will be Wednesday, it’ll be our first padded practice and it’ll be our night practice and there will be a barbecue bash here,” said Joe Fonderoli, Colts Director of Events.
“We’ll have our Armed Forces Day on Saturday and our Community take-back day on Sunday as well,” Fonderoli said.
