Group holds #WomenBetrayed rallies, protests Planned Parenthood in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 28, 2015) – A pro-life group is organizing rallies across the country Tuesday to spur an investigation into Planned Parenthood. Students for Life for America cites the recently released undercover video showing a Planned Parenthood executive discussing fetal organ donation as the motivation for events.
While the pro-life group accuses Planned Parenthood of profiting from fetal organ donation, Planned Parenthood says they are only reimbursed for the expenses that come with the practice.
The now viral undercover video, posted by a pro-life group called the Center for Medical Progress, showed a Planned Parenthood official discussing the harvesting of fetal organs. In the video, a senior director of medical services for the Planned Parenthood Federation of America discusses the demand for fetal organs and how to preserve them during abortions. While the video surfaced in early-July, it was recorded last year.
Soon after the undercover video was released, Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky released this statement: ” “Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky does not participate in any tissue donation program… Tissue donation is standard practice in the medical community.”
Rallies are scheduled in more than 60 cities including Indianapolis, South Bend and Fort Wayne. The events are titled #WomenBetrayed rallies and organizers say they want Planned Parenthood defunded.
State senators Mike Delph (R-Carmel) and Brent Waltz (R-Greenwood) are scheduled to attend the Indianapolis rally. The event will be held at the Planned Parenthood on Georgetown Road at noon.
