Man brought to hospital after northeast side shooting, dies shortly after

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 27, 2015)— Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department are investigating a shooting that occurred on the city’s northeast side Sunday night.

Officers responded to the 10200 block of Pineneedle Court on reports of shots fired around 10:11 p.m. When they arrived, they found multiple shots had been fired in the parking lot of an apartment complex. Multiple vehicles and one of the apartment building sustained damage from the gunfire.

Around 10:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to Community East Hospital, after two males drove a victim to the hospital. The victim, identified as 34-year-old Brian Gerrard, reportedly was shot at the Pineneedle Court address.

A short time after arriving at the hospital, Gerrard was pronounced deceased.

Police do not have a motive at this time, but detectives do not believe this is a random act. Anyone with information about this shooting is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 317-262-8477.
