INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 23, 2015)– Police have made an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed 27-year-old Thomas Abell last month.
Jayme Murphy, 26, was arrested Thursday on a charge of failure to stop after accident resulting in death, a level 5 felony.
Abell was killed after being struck by a vehicle on June 28 near the intersection of Kessler Boulevard and Crestview Avenue. Family members canvassed the area for three weeks, seeking information about Abell’s death. They say the arrest allows them to move forward.
“We know that Thomas isn’t going to come back, but we’re able to move in the direction of seeking justice for him,” said Michael Abell, Thomas’ brother.
Abell’s brother said he was an avid runner and enjoyed spending time with his family. Abell graduated from IUPUI with a biology degree and was working as a lab assistant.
