PITTSBORO, Ind. (July 23, 2015)- One central Indiana town is celebrating NASCAR driver Jeff Gordon ahead of this weekend’s Brickyard 400 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Thursday, July 23 has been declared “Jeff Gordon Day” in the town of Pittsboro.

Jeff moved to Pittsboro when he was a teen to jumpstart his racing career, and Thursday he will be back in town for a parade in his honor.

The parade will start at noon on Main Street.

Racing fans from all across central Indiana are invited to attend the event.

There will be an awards ceremony for Gordon following the parade at Scamahorn Park.

This is Gordon’s final full season as a NASCAR driver.

The four-time NASCAR series cup champion will make what’s expected to be his final appearance as a driver at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday at the Brickyard 400.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a place Gordon has found great success.

“When you see the emotion that he has when he gets out of the car, winning at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway it means more to him because he grew up just down the street, he grew up wanting to run the Indy 500 wanting to compete here at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” said Doug Boles, president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Ten lucky fans will get to attend a special “meet and greet” with Jeff Thursday afternoon.

People can enter to win that opportunity starting at 9am Thursday at the Visit Henricks County booth inside Scamahorn Park.
