RIPLEY, OH (July 20, 2015) – A pregnant mother and her two children were killed when their mobile home was swept away in a flash flood.

According to Fox19, water from the Red Oak Creek lifted the mobile home from its foundation.

Victoria Kennard, 32 was found dead Sunday morning. Kennard was six months pregnant.

Family friend David Lee Bauer found the body of 7-year-old Gabriel a half mile downstream.

Crews found the body of Rosa Barrios, Kennard’s 5-year-old daughter, just an hour later. She was wearing a life jacket.

“Vicki was a good mother and I’m sure she did everything she could up until the very end to try to take care of her kids, try to keep them safe. I know they said one of them had a life jacket on so I know she was going through every effort to try to save them,” rescue volunteer David Benjamin told Fox19.

The children’s father Tony Barrios, 47, and his two oldest sons survived. They were found by rescuers holding on to tree branches to escape the current.

The flooding occurred after four inches of rain fell Saturday night.
