Deputies cleared of wrongdoing after July police action shooting
INDIANAPOLIS (July 20, 2015) – Two Johnson County sheriff’s deputies were cleared of wrongdoing after their involvement in a police action shooting on the south side earlier this month.
On July 9, deputies responded to the 8000 block of Bluff Road near Glenns Valley Nature Park in response to reports of an unruly person.
According to police, the man acted in a threatening manner and made an aggressive move toward officers, causing them to open fire. Both the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department had arrived at the scene.
According to Johnson County Sheriff Dog Cox, a report from IMPD cleared the deputies of any criminal wrongdoing in connection with the shooting, which left the man in critical condition.
Both deputies will resume patrol duties this week, Cox said.
