National Weather Service confirms Tippecanoe Co tornado

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (July 18, 2015) — The National Weather Service says an EF 1 tornado touched down in Tippecanoe County.

The tornado, with wind speeds of 97 miles per hour, touched down southeast of Lafayette, near US 52 and County Road 900 S. It was part of a powerful storm system that moved through the county Friday evening.

NWS observed down trees, including oaks, and at least one collapsed garage during their survey.
