VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (July 17, 2015) – A woman was rescued this morning after texting 911.
According to state police, the Putnam County 911 Dispatch received an emergency 911 text message around 10:20 a.m.
A 20-year-old female was reportedly held in her vehicle by two male suspects.
The female texted dispatchers that she was in a red 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling westbound on Interstate 70 and reportedly en route to the St. Louis, Missouri area.
The female continued to exchange text messages with the Putnam County Dispatch Center, and ISP started to look for the vehicle.
State police located the Cavalier westbound on I-70 near the 12 mile marker.
Seconds later, troopers stopped the vehicle. Both men were taken into custody without incident. The female was assisted from the vehicle, found unharmed, but she was somewhat distraught.
Preliminary investigation revealed the female did not want to go to St. Louis, but the driver did not listen
Hatchett reportedly refused all requests from the female and continued to drive west on I-70.
