Worker, driver sent to hospital after construction zone crash

CARMEL, Ind. (July 17, 2015) – A truck driver walking in a construction zone was hospitalized after a crash late Thursday night.

It happened just before midnight near Meridian and 116th streets. The car was going southbound on Meridian when it struck the truck driver, who had just delivered supplies to a construction crew in the area. According to Carmel police, the driver of a 2005 Nissan Altima admitted he was going above the speed limit and lost control before the crash. The car flipped several times after the impact.

The driver of the Nissan, identified as Aron Hubbard of Indianapolis, suffered minor injuries and went to St. Vincent. The truck driver who was struck, identified as Jeffery Charles Cline of Michigan, suffered serious injuries to his lower torso and also went to St. Vincent, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
