Intense fire guts home on the west side of Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (July 9, 2015) – Investigators are trying to figure out the cause of a fire at a west side Indianapolis home.

According to the Wayne Township Fire Department, crews were called to Roena Street near Vandalia Avenue just before 4 a.m. They arrived to find the garage and home fully engulfed in flames.

No one was inside at the time and it appeared the home was in the process of being renovated. There were also no working utilities, according to fire crews on the scene. Crews had it under control shortly before 5 a.m.

Firefighters said the fire completely gutted the home. Damage is estimated at $40,000.
