Man who placed suspicious box under bridge interviewed by State Police

UPDATE:  Indiana State Police say around 6:30 p.m.  a person was observed placing a box under the Rockville Road bridge overpass. along Interstate 465.

State Police responded to the report of a suspicious package and shutdown southbound lanes of 465 in the area of I-74 and the Crawfordsville Road Exit.

Bomb sniffing police dogs were brought to the scene, State Police Explosive Ordinance Division cleared the suspicious package,  and after an hour, traffic was once again allowed through that area of 465 on the city’s west side.

State Police are talking to a person of interest that placed the box under the bridge.

Nothing dangerous or explosive was found inside the box.

UPDATE:  From Indiana State Police; a suspicious package under the Rockville Road overpass on I-465 has been cleared.  All traffic on 465 and Rockville Road is open.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 4, 2015)–All lanes of southbound I-465 are closed near I-74 and US 136/Crawfordsville Road due to a traffic hazard .

Indiana State Police are on the scene but are not saying what the hazard is or how long they expect the southbound lanes to be closed.

Motorists are being advised to expect delays as they travel southbound  on I-465 near mile marker 15 on the city’s west side.
