Police arrest man after Montgomery County meth investigation

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (June 29, 2015) – Police in Montgomery County arrested a man accused of making methamphetamine.

An Indiana State Police trooper and deputy from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department arrived at the home at 497 East 300 South just south of Crawfordsville after receiving a report of possible illegal activity in the area on Saturday.

Upon arrival just before 5 p.m., they met Richard S. Francis, 51, who told the officers to follow him. The investigators said they noticed illegal activity in the area; after a short conversation, they were asked to leave.

Investigators applied for and obtained a search warrant. At 8:05 p.m., they returned to the residence and searched it. They found several bags of meth waste along with items used to manufacture the drug.

Francis was arrested on charges of manufacturing/dealing methamphetamine and taken to the Montgomery County Jail.
