Putnam County deputy resigns after domestic dispute, alcohol-involved crash
PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (June 22, 2015) – A Putnam County sheriff’s deputy resigned Monday after violating the department’s alcohol policy over the weekend.
Tyler Turner, 33, was involved in a wreck in which he ran into a stop sign Saturday. He was driving a department-issued vehicle at the time. Turner tested for a blood alcohol content of .054, below Indiana’s legal limit. Officials with the department said having alcohol in his system violated the department’s zero-tolerance policy, which went into effect Jan. 1.
Before the crash, Turner had been involved in a domestic dispute inside the department-issued vehicle. He’d been with the department for two years.
The department has forwarded its case to the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.
