INDIANAPOLIS (June 17, 2015) – Two men are in custody after a call about a suspicious vehicle ended in a standoff with police.

Officers responded to the Castleton Square Mall in Indianapolis early Wednesday morning after receiving a call about a suspicious vehicle.

When they arrived on scene, police say they found two men asleep in a car. Officers say the men acted suspicious.

As officers proceeded to pat the men down, they felt what they thought was a handgun on one of the suspects. Police say that victim ran and a foot chase followed as officers tried to detain the suspect.

A perimeter was set and K9 units were used to track the suspect to a dumpster in the parking lot near Sears.

SWAT units on the scene assisting IMPD officers deployed gas and the suspect turned himself over to police.

The second suspect remained with the car during the chase.

The vehicle that the two men were in was reported as stolen, and the suspect involved in the chase had a warrant for carjacking out of Indianapolis.

Police have recovered the gun and both men are currently in custody.
