INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (June 14, 2015) – A woman fell out of a moving van onto the interstate Sunday morning while trying to vomit.

According to police, the incident happened at 11:15 a.m. on I-69 northbound just north of 82nd Street.

Witnesses say the van was traveling in the center lane and had slowed down considerably, causing northbound traffic to pass the van on both sides. As the van continued driving witnesses saw Zrmina Padsha, 27, of Indianapolis, fall into the roadway from the driver’s side rear door.

The driver of the van told police his sister was sitting in the seat behind him when she began feeling ill. He said he was trying to find a place to pull off the road when she opened the sliding door to vomit. As he was slowing down she fell out the door. Padsha was not wearing a seatbelt at the time.

Medics from the Indianapolis Fire Department responded quickly to the scene and transported Padsha to St. Vincents Hospital. She was conscious and alert at the scene and appeared to have suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The incident caused all lanes of I-69 northbound at the 201.9 mile marker to be closed for about 15 minutes. All lanes have since been reopened.
