INDIANAPOLIS (May 28, 2015) – A brief SWAT standoff ended with a man in handcuffs Thursday morning.

A SWAT unit was called to the near north side home in the 2200 block of Capitol Avenue. Police said a suspect assaulted his girlfriend and barricaded himself inside. He also has an outstanding warrant unrelated to the case.

The situation started around 8:40 a.m., bringing a large police presence to the area. Traffic was also being diverted because streets were blocked during the police response.

Police took a man into custody, ending the standoff. Traffic in the area has now cleared, dispatchers said. Two other men also came out of the home.
