Carnival ride comes apart in Lafayette, injuring several children

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (May 26, 2015)– Several children are recovering after being thrown from a ride at a carnival in Lafayette.

Lafayette police were called to the 2200 block of Elmwood Avenue just after 7 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a carnival ride coming apart while in use.

Several children were injured, but none of the injuries were life threatening.

The carnival is now shut down pending inspections. A state inspection has previously been scheduled for Wednesday.

Jessop Amusement, Inc. is the owner of the carnival. They are cooperating with authorities.
