MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (May 18, 2015)—An Elwood, Ind. man accused of trying to poison his girlfriend on Christmas Day in order to cause her to miscarry pleaded guilty Monday to charges against him.

Jarod Rebuck, 25, was arrested last year on a charge of attempted feticide. Authorities were called to a house in the 9900 block of West Main Street in Fishersburg, Ind. on Christmas Day. Rebuck’s girlfriend told investigators Rebuck had put something in her drink.

According to investigators, Rebuck later admitted it was a substance to make the woman miscarry. Search history on Rebuck’s cell phone revealed he had been researching substances that would cause a miscarriage, said authorities.

The incident did not cause the woman to have a miscarriage.

Rebuck was scheduled to appear for a jury trial Tuesday, but he instead entered a guilty plea. He will be sentenced on June 8.
