Driver injured after car crashes into west side retirement community

INDIANAPOLIS (May 15, 2015) – A car drove off the road and slammed into an Indianapolis senior community on the west side Friday morning.

According to the Wayne Township Fire Department, the car veered off Crawfordsville Road and hit a first-floor apartment. The room was empty, investigators said. It happened at The Harrison at Eagle Valley, 3060 Valley Farms Rd.

No one inside the retirement community was hurt, but the building was evacuated so crews could assess the damage.

The driver suffered minor injuries and was being treated at the scene.

The structure was being secured. A team will assess the damage to determine if the building is safe.
