Bicyclist seriously hurt after Monday morning crash on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (May 11, 2015) – A bicyclist was seriously injured Monday morning after being hit by a car on the east side, according to police dispatchers.

The crash happened around 7:40 a.m. on North Emerson Avenue between 34th and 35th streets.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the bicyclist remained on the scene, police said. The victim suffered a broken arm and several cuts.

According to police, the victim lives about a block away from the scene. The car was in his blind spot as he was trying to change lanes.
