Suspect in custody after police called to near southwest side marijuana grow operation

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 7, 2015)– A suspect was taken into custody after a SWAT situation on the near southwest side Thursday night.

Police were called to a building at West Morris Street & South Tibbs Avenue around 6:30 p.m. after someone reported seeing marijuana plants being taken inside. Officers were informed that the person inside could be armed, so SWAT was called in to assist.

After a standoff, a man exited the building and was taken into custody without incident. Police are currently searching the building after receiving a search warrant.

An active marijuana grow operation was confirmed to be inside the building.
