INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 6, 2015)-- Police were called to a homicide and child abduction on the northwest side of Indianapolis. A woman now faces a preliminary murder charge in connection with the case.

Officers were called to Whispering Pines Apartments in the 4500 block of Mission Drive Wednesday around 6:30 p.m., near 46th Street and High School Road.

It is believed the initial call to 911 came from the suspect herself, who stated she had just killed her roommate. Minutes later, a neighbor called 911 to say the suspect had said she killed someone before leaving the scene.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was found stabbed to death in the apartment she shared with the suspect and another woman.

Police say the suspect, 23-year-old Kiara Ivette Ciares-Quinones, abducted two children from a residence and fled with her own two children as well. None of the children belonged to the victim.

The suspect and all four children were found on the city's south side around 9:30 p.m., near Edgewood Avenue and Madison Avenue sitting in a parking lot.

Neighbors were shaken up by the incident, saying the apartment complex is tight-knit with many families who know each other.

"It's just scary, because you don't know if it could happen to you next," neighbor Maria Gonzalez said.

Friends and neighbors told CBS4 that the suspect had been acting erratically in the days leading up the murder, referencing witchcraft and the devil. A motive in the case is still unclear.
