INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (May 6, 2015)-- After a video surfaced showing a male student beating up a female student in a Northwest Community High School hallway, the school's principal addressed questions Wednesday.

Principal Michelle Brittain-Watts said three fights broke out inside the school Tuesday. The school is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the fights, but she believes a dispute began outside the building on social media.

"It was disturbing, however my main concern was the safety and security of the students, making sure the students were handled and dealt with and the student that might have been injured during the altercation was treated," said Brittain-Watts.

The school brought in an extra security officer in an effort to improve safety. A total of six were present Wednesday.

Students were interviewed about the incident and the investigation was turned over to the prosecutor. She would not comment on any specific disciplinary action taken against the students.

The principal also said staff that witnessed the incident acted appropriately.
