Mobile meth lab discovered in Plainfield Walmart parking lot, man arrested

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (April 13, 2015)– Plainfield and State Police say a mobile meth lab was discovered in a vehicle in a Walmart parking lot Monday night.

Police were called to the Walmart located at 2373 East Main Street just between State Road 267 and U.S. 40. just after 6 p.m. on a report of a fight.

Officers found a silver Pontiac on the east side of the parking lot, and two adults in the car engaged in a physical fight. Officers ordered a man out of the car. A search warrant was requested based on visual evidence and questioning of the suspect.

Materials used for the creation of drugs was discovered.

Police arrested Steven Baily, 38, of Terre Haute. He is currently being held at the Plainfield jail. He faces charges of battery, manufacturing of illegal drugs, visiting a common nuisance and possessing precursors.

The woman involved suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. She has not been identified.
