Police: Indianapolis man tried to sell alligator to undercover officer

LOUISVILLE (April 9, 2015) – Wildlife officials in Kentucky arrested an Indianapolis man accused of trying to sell an alligator to an undercover officer Wednesday night.

According to Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, Jose G. Diaz Grant, 35, brought the alligator to Louisville in order to sell it.

Alligators are an exotic species prohibited in Kentucky, according to wildlife officials there. He didn’t have a permit to possess the animal or transport it, according to the arrest report. Investigators also said he had a .22 caliber revolver in his pocket.

Charges against him include two counts of propagation and holding of wildlife without a permit and carrying a concealed weapon.
