INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (April 6, 2015) - Fans cheered for their favorite teams as they made their way downtown to watch the Duke Blue Devils play the Wisconsin Badgers. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers made their way through a sea of blue and red to keep the crowd under control.

The department has a special team that is specially trained to handle crowds. Officers with IMPD's Event Response Group were stationed near the convention center to keep pedestrian traffic moving Monday afternoon. The team worked throughout the Final Four to manage the tens of thousands of fans who were in town.

"They're out watching the crowds and watching how they're moving and make sure that people are still getting to where they need to be and then watching to make sure there's nothing going on within the crowd or any troubles," said Indianapolis Homeland Security Chief Gary Coons.

Coons said the Final Four fans have been well behaved and he has not experienced any significant problems with event security.

"If we can just keep people moving along to their destinations I think they'll have a good time and enjoy themselves," said IMPD Officer Daniel Disney.
