CHICAGO, IL (March 19, 2015) — A judge has cleared a University of Illinois at Chicago student accused of sexual assault who told authorities he was attempting to re-enact scenes from the film “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

Mohammad Hossain allegedly attacked another student last month during a sexual encounter in his dorm room. On Thursday, Cook County Circuit Judge Peggy Chiampas determined not enough evidence existed in the case after a preliminary hearing in which the alleged victim testified.

The 19-year-old Hossain allegedly bound and gagged the woman, and then covered her eyes with a knit cap. It was also alleged Hossain struck the woman with a belt and his fists, despite pleas for him to stop. Prosecutors say Hossain had previously been intimate with the woman.

Hossain, a medical student, was being held in lieu of $500,000.
