Man rescued from house fire on near east side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 14, 2015) — Fire crews were called to the 2000 block of Olney Street for a house fire just before noon for a house fire.

Officials say one person was home at the time of the fire.

The man was asleep and was awakened by the fire, but there were no working smoke detectors in the home.

IFD assisted in helping the man off of the porch roof and took the man to the hospital to be checked for injuries.

The cause of the  fire is still under investigation.
