INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (March 3, 2015)-- A fight broke out at Andrew J. Brown Academy Tuesday night after a middle school boys basketball game. Police say the fight involved 50-60 players and adults in the stands.
The game was between Andrew Brown Academy and Lighthouse Academy. After game ended around 7:45 p.m., a player from Lighthouse Academy punched an Andrew Brown Academy player. That led to a large fight involving players and adults.
The juvenile who threw the initial punch was arrested for battery. Another person was injured but did not need medical attention.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) says the school acted appropriately during the fight and is cooperating with the police investigation.
Last week, the Marion County eighth grade girls championship basketball game was terminated after a fight broke out in the bleachers with just four minutes remaining in the game. That incident occurred at Westlane Middle School.
