Special Olympics athletes train in a special place
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (February 21, 2015) — Special Olympics athletes geared up for a mini combine football clinic at the Indianapolis Colts training complex Saturday.
The timing lines up with the NFL scouting combine this weekend in Indy.
About 60 special Olympic athletes participated in the event.
There was a 40-yard dash and agility drills followed by flag football.
The Knights of Columbus partnered with others to make the event happen.
“There’s a lot of great energy here… this is our second year… so we’ve got a lot of brand new people going ‘wow – what a special day to be at the Colts training facility’,” said Scott Cunningham, the State Deputy for the Indiana Knights of Columbus. “AS an Indiana native you don’t get to do that every day.”
The event acted as a reminder of the abilities and character of Special Olympic athletes.
The Special Olympics World Games will take place this summer in Los Angeles.
