INDIANAPOLIS, Ind (Feb. 18, 2014)-- A little girl is safe after a man allegedly tried abducting her from a Kroger parking lot on the west side of Indianapolis.

"It all happened in like two seconds," said Danny Agudelo.

It might have been over in a matter of seconds, however, the memory is still there for Agudelo and his 5-year-old daughter.

"I was a little bit scared," said the 5-year-old.

Agudelo says he was putting his groceries away in the Kroger parking lot on Rockville Road when a man pulled up and allegedly gestured for the young girl to get in his car.

"She was actually smart enough to say no. She's only five, but she said no and backed away," said Agudelo.

The man sped off, and Agudelo chased after him.

"I started honking and I tried to get his attention, but all he did was lock his door and light a cigarette," said Agudelo.

The pursuit continued for a few blocks until the man pulled into the Crestwood West Village Apartments.

"I didn’t want to risk taking my daughter into the apartment complex.  I didn't want to risk her life so I decided to stop right there," said Agudelo.

It’s a sobering warning for some parents.

"It makes you more cautious and makes you want to keep your kids closer--even at the grocery store," said Minyon Mincey.

"This happened to my daughter, tomorrow this could happen to another kid," said Agudelo.

Agudelo describes the  car as a blue Chrysler driven by a man in his 50s or 60s with a white beard and a hat. The license plate number was "888SIA." Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say the car belongs to a man who lives in the Crestwood Village West Apartments.  However, nobody was at the residence when police arrived.
