Suspect in custody after firing shot at officer on northeast side

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 17, 2015)– Police were searching for a suspect on the city’s northeast side after a shot was fired at an officer. The suspect was taken into custody just after 8 p.m in the 6000 block of Linton Lane.

The incident began in Hamilton County, where officers cased the suspect who was driving a Chevrolet truck. Police called off the case as the suspect got to Marion County. IMPD heard the chase and an officer in the area of Binford Boulevard and East 62nd Street spotted the truck and began to chase the suspect.

The suspect’s vehicle crashed near Binford Boulevard and East 62nd Street. The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot. It was at this time that the suspect reportedly turned and fired at the officer.

A witness in the area approached the officer to see if he was alright and said, “that guy just shot at you!”

The officer was not struck and no injuries have been reported.
