INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (Feb. 17, 2015)– Legislation approved by an Indiana House committee Tuesday would help cut down on the time required for the ISTEP exam.

Senate Bill 62 was amended to eliminate social studies from the exam for 5th and 7th-grade students. The test would likely take about nine hours instead of 12. The policy on rescoring exams was also adjusted.

The bill now moves to the House floor before being voted on.

ISTEP testing is scheduled to begin as early as next week.
