The man, identified as James Hellums of Shelby County, was reported missing on January 4.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department was told that four rabbit hunters in a wooded area near the Flatrock River saw someone matching the description of the missing man. The man had told the hunters he had gone into the river looking for his dog.
