GREENSBURG, Ind. (February 9, 2015) – A central Indiana’s police department is under investigation for missing evidence.

In December, just weeks after Brendan Bridges took over the Greensburg Police Chief position, he says one of his officers notified him some evidence was gone.

“I’m getting questioned by them of what’s going on and unfortunately I don’t know either,” Bridges said.

Bridges told CBS4 the stolen evidence was money but when we asked how much Bridges told us, “It is a good size amount, specific amount I don’t know."

The Indiana State Police did an audit of the Greensburg’s Police Department’s evidence room.  The full ISP report hasn’t been released but in statement investigators said the audit “resulted in the discovery of several discrepancies concerning evidence.”

Despite changing the locks and installing more security cameras, Bridges says he has full trust in his force.

“They do not believe that anybody here is directly linked to this investigation that is currently employed here,” he said.

ISP is still investigating.  Depending on the findings there could be pending criminal charges.
